Embracing & Embodying the New Way
We do not think ourselves into a new way of thinking as much as we live our self into a new way of thinking.
–Richard Rohr
The old adage says, ‘Practice makes perfect.’ You’ll see this logic employed by any disciplined athlete—the basketball player staying after practice to shoot and additional 100 free throws, the lineman putting in extra reps on the weightlifting bench—and experiencing the pay off when the game is on the line. The same truth applies to changing our thoughts. You learn to listen by listening. You learn to serve by serving. You learn to give by giving. You learn to love by loving. We change our lives—and our life’s circumstance—by living our way to the new direction. Think about it all we want, it’s only when we put our energy into walking after it that we make progress. Embrace the new way from the heart and embody it with all your being. This is walking after Christ; walking in the Spirit.
